Varin Utsav - 13

Varin international residential school celebrated Varin Utsav 13 (2022 -23) with pomp and show. This year the joyous occasion was celebrated over a period of two days. The two days of Varin Utsav were a culmination of Indo-Western cultures that beheld the watchwords of universal brotherhood.

Kanakadasa Jayanthi Celebration

Karnataka celebrates “Kanakadasa Jayanthi” to pay tribute to Shri Kanaka Dasa, who was the 15th century Saint and a social reformer. Kanaka Dasa was a Haridasa, and renowned composer of Carnatic music, poet, musician and philosopher. He is famous for his Keerthana and upabhoga, compositions for Carnatic Music. He used simple Kannada language for his compositions.

Kannada Rajyotsava celebration

Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Varin by the students in the school assembly area on the bright and sunny morning. After invoking God’s blessings through a meaningful and solemn Prayer and Prayer Song, the students were made aware of the importance of Kannada Rajyotsava as the Karnataka Formation Day, celebrated on the 1st of November every year.

Trips and Excursions in October

Besides intellectual development of the personality being achieved inside the classroom, aesthetic development, character building, spiritual and moral values, physical growth and creativity gets better inculcated outside the classroom through co-curricular activities.

Diwali celebration

Diwali is the festival of lights which is celebrated in various regions across India. The name ‘Diwali’ literally means an ‘array of lights’. The day was marked by a special assembly highlighting the message of ‘Green Diwali, Clean Diwali’. Decorated with lights and vibrant hues, we had an ambience of joy and happiness.

Ayudha Pooja Celebration

On 04th October 2022, Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashmi Poojas were celebrated in our school with our magnanimous Management and staff members. Pooja was offered to transport vehicles and school premises that connote a divine force which works behind to perform well and for getting the proper reward for the student and for the entire school.

Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration

Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated at Varin International Residential School on 02nd October 2022 to commemorate the 153rd birthday of Mohandas Karam Chand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi or ‘Bapu’. The School remembered this greatest motivator and independence campaigner of his times through various activities.

Onam celebration

Varin International Residential School celebrated Onam on the school’s premises amidst much fanfare involving staff and management of the school. The celebrations started with setting up of an attractive floral decoration (pookalam) in the auditorium that was reminiscent of the agrarian past of Kerala, a South Indian state. Impressive designs and artistic creativity were the hallmarks of the Pookalam, which turned out to be attractive and mesmerizing and took everyone into a world of festivity and fun.

Teachers Day celebration

To commemorate the birth of the second President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a philosopher and a great teacher, 5th September every year is celebrated as Teacher’s Day. His contribution towards Indian education is undeniable. The Teacher’s Day was organised with incredible gusto and zeal by the students of Varin International Residential School.

Ganesha Festival celebration

We celebrated ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ with great pomp and festivity on 31st August, 2022. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. The festival is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav.

National sports day

The National Sports Day of India was celebrated in tribute to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The students were told about the importance of ‘Sports’ and the relevance of National Sports Day during the Assembly.

Clay Modelling competition

Clay Modelling is an activity that helps in the development of students in several ways. It nurtures a child’s creativity, boosts imagination, and imbibes self-confidence. The touch and feel of clay have a naturally relaxing quality. By pressing, squeezing, poking, and reshaping the clay into different shapes, improves a child’s motor skills.

Fruits day celebration

With an objective to create awareness among children about the importance of consumption of fruits in regular diet. The youngsters of Varin celebrated Fruit Day. Children, representing the fruits of their choice through chart, sang the fruit rhymes with great zest, enthusiasm and vigour, enjoying the moments of joy and happiness in the company of their mates & teachers.

Eid Mubarak celebration

Eid Mubarak is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, and is one of the most revered Islamic festivals. It is celebrated in honor of Ibrahim, who was ready to sacrifice his own son as an act of obedience to command. The festival is celebrated with much fanfare in India on a grand level. In order to make our students aware of this festival, it was celebrated in our school on the 20th of August 2022.

Fancy Dress Competition

Scholastic and co-scholastic activities are equally important for the all-around development of the child. Keeping this in view, We conducted the Fancy Dress Competition for the children of Pre-primary on 20th August 2022. The purpose of performing the competition was not only to blend learning with fun but also to develop confidence in the students by giving them an opportunity to get on the stage and speak in front of an audience. Children came dressed up in their colorful costumes and spoke a few words. The effort and hard work of the children and the parents were highly commendable.

Krishnajnmastami celebration

Krishna Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami was celebrated with great pomp and festivity by the students at Varin International Residential School. The fragrance of flowers, soothing aroma of camphor and the jingle of bells filled the air. Dressed as Radha and Krishna, the cute little ones added a traditional touch to the entire celebrations when they danced to the beat of Janmashtami songs, filling the air with joy and festive spirit. Girls from various grades enthralled the audience with a classical dance performance.

Independence Day celebration

The flying colours of freedom and joy hoisted very high at Varin International Residential school on August 15, 2022, celebrating the ‘75th Independence Day’. The day highlighted ~ the never to be forgotten, the glory and sacrifices made by the great martyrs, the warriors of India. At Varin, the students performed a series of brilliant acts like theme play, dance, speeches, songs and other enactments to uplift the sense of Human Excellence, ‘One-ness and Nationalism’ in all our hearts. The day witnessed a large number of the audience singing the song of freedom ‘Vande Mataram’ in equal harmony.

Red Day celebration for Pre-primary students

Red’ colour symbolizes enthusiasm, life and vitality. The day started off with the colour red every- where red dress, red rose, red teddy, red car, red apples, red cherries, here a red………. there a red….. red, red everywhere ……..our little ones spent a spectacular red day. Bulletin boards displayed red craft work made by the children. The tiny tots looked stunning in their red outfits. Special assembly was conducted with emphasis on significance of red colour.

National Librarians Day

August 12th is being celebrated as National Librarian's Day in India, in remembrance of national professor of library science, Dr S R Ranganathan (1892-1972), who had spearheaded library development in India.” To learn, to gain knowledge and wisdom, one has to frequently visit the library. Today the digital libraries have replaced the usual, traditional, print library.

National De-worming day

The National Deworming Day is an initiative of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to make every child in the country worm free. This is one of the largest public health programs reaching large number of children during a short period. The objective of National Deworming Day is to deworm all preschool and school-age children (enrolled and non-enrolled) between the ages of 1-19 years through the platform of schools in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life. We conducted de-worming day with the help of doctors by giving Albendazole tablets to students and letting them know the importance of Deworming day.

Varamahalakshmi Festival

Varamahalakshmi Vrata is a festival to propitiate the goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Vishnu, one of the Hindu Trinity. Varalakshmi is one who grants boons (Varam). It is an important pooja performed by many women in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The Hindu festival going by the name ‘Vara maha Lakshmi Vrata’ is celebrated on the Second Friday or the Friday before full moon day – Poornima in the month of Śravaṇā, also called Śawan in Hindi and Aadi in Tamil which corresponds to the Gregorian months of July–August.

Mock Drill

To create awareness among the staff about disaster management, a mock fire and evacuation drill was conducted on 03rd August about fire-fighting techniques and the ways to respond swiftly in times of such emergency situation. The mock drill was carried out in the school to prepare staffs for any such eventuality under the fire risk reduction programme. The purpose to organize the mock drill was to check the readiness of the school to face any such fire emergency and also to make the staff aware about the Fire Fighting Rescue Operation.

Talent Hunt Competition

It is truly believed that every person is born with a talent. Presidium organized an Intra Class Talent Hunt Competition to nurture talents in its students. The students showcased their dancing, theatrical and oratory skills very confidently on stage. This competition certainly proved to be a good platform for them to identify their hidden talents.

Vegetables day celebration

To make our kids understand that vegetables are an essential component of a healthy diet for physical growth and sound health, a mock vegetable market was set up in the classroom. Our children also acted on skits playing the role of a vegetable vendor. Fruit and vegetable crafts, rhymes, activities, games, and other resources presented an exciting way for our children to learn about these healthy foods. Children got to know and explore different kinds of fruits and vegetables in this activity.

Quiz Competition

“Learning gives creativity, creativity leads to thinking, thinking provides knowledge and knowledge makes us great.” We organized an Inter house quiz competition for the students in which the four different houses, with fervent participants in each house gave a tough battle to each other in rounds. The aim of the competition was to test the learners’ general knowledge about Politics, current affairs, reasoning ability, international issues, health and safety and many more.

State Level Volley ball competition

Increased physical activity during the school can help children's attention, classroom behaviour, and test scores. Meanwhile, the decline of play is closely linked to ADHD; behavioural problems; and stunted social, cognitive, and creative development.

Holistic education is a myth, without sports in the curriculum. CISCE Sports and games Karnataka 2022 had organized State level Volley ball competition in chikkabalapur district. Our students participated in the event and have selected for semi-finals round. It gave a worthy opportunity for fledgling athletes to showcase their talent.

Drawing and Painting Competition

To bring out the creativity and the artistic talents among the children, a “Drawing and Painting Competition” was conducted for middle and high school students. Children participated earnestly in the competition and came up with amazing drawings. It inspired them to think and work creatively. Their imagination was a treat to the eyes. All the participants were given 'Participation Certificates' and the winners who proved their potential were given exciting prizes along with 'Achievement Certificates'.

Colours day Celebration for Pre-primary students

“Colour is a power which directly influences the soul and brings positivity amongst all”.

Colour plays a vitally important role in the world in which we leave. Colour can sway thinking, change actions, and cause reactions. As a powerful form of communication colour is irreplaceable. We had organized Blue and Green day for pre-primary students to know the importance of colours.

Belagu Siri

Belaku Siri is a welcome party to new comers for our college and a gesture of extending the friendly atmosphere and to be motivating factors for juniors. The aim of conducting this day is to make the juniors feel welcome and to interact with them. The new academic year brings happiness and joy with the arrival of juniors. “A hundred new faces, but a million dreams” is what this occasion can be best described as. Welcoming these hundred odd bright faces to an unchartered ocean of knowledge fear and anxiety are bound to creep into these novice minds.

Hostel Trip/Excursions

Travel expands your horizons and school life cannot be complete without the fun of educational tours and excursions. These trips are tailor made to facilitate the students to know and understand the real, multicultural world. We had organized one day field trip for our hostel students to Yediyur where there was a break from the normal routine, freedom to interact with friends, teachers, etc.

Yoga day

Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. International Yoga Day was celebrated by Varin students and all staff’s with great enthusiasm. Students demonstrated various yoga asanas. Warm up exercised were taken and all the students performed sitting and standing asana, importance of these were explained simultaneously by Yoga therapist Ms. “Rashmi”. The celebration concluded with synchronized recitation of slogans and speech by our Principal Mr. Senthil R. He encouraged students to practice regular yoga to remain fit and improve concentration.

Investiture ceremony

Investiture ceremony in Varin is not just about providing titles , but about conferring responsibilities to the students, to take charge of the school and take it to the height they desire with their leadership , decision making skills, communication and teamwork. The Investiture ceremony for the academic year 2022-23 was held with great solemnity. There was an aura of expectancy as the beaming faces of the selected student council members marched into the gathering.

Parent’s Orientation programme for Pre-primary students

A student’s academic and all-round development is not just up to the school. The parents need to be involved at every step so as to keep track of the progress their ward is making over the academic year. While it may not be possible for them to do so every day, considering they would be busy with their own professional lives, we offer parent orientation program at the beginning of the academic year to discuss about the various aspects of the student’s schooling for the whole year.

School Cabinet Election

A formal election is conducted based on the electoral process in India as – for the children, of the children, by the children. The votes were manually counted and the students learnt the importance of voting responsibility.
The entire responsibility was taken care by Head Master, Vice-principal and Co-ordinator of High school section.
Principal Mr. Senthil R supervised the complete activity and wished all the future leaders.
