Karnataka celebrates “Kanakadasa Jayanthi” to pay tribute to Shri Kanaka Dasa, who was the 15th century Saint and a social reformer. Kanaka Dasa was a Haridasa, and renowned composer of Carnatic music, poet, musician and philosopher. He is famous for his Keerthana and upabhoga, compositions for Carnatic Music. He used simple Kannada language for his compositions. Kanakadasa Jayanthi was celebrated with great enthusiasm in our school on 11th November 2022.
The programme began with the invocation of God’s blessings with a prayer song by the school choir. The importance of the day was emphasized by students of class VII. Chinmay D of grade VII, dressed up as Kanakadasa and sang Keerthana’s.
Speaking on this occasion Principal Mr. Senthil R stated that the keerthana’s composed by Kanakadasa is not just writings but great influential’s on mankind at all times. Many such programmes ought to be conducted to spread an awareness about such noble soul to this as well as the next generation, he concluded.
As part of this celebration we had organized a dance program from “SPIC MACAY” and witnessed enthralling performances by SPIC MACAY team. This has helped our students to explore the rich cultural heritage of our country.
